It was ninth grade and i was in deparate need of an algerbra tutor when i first heard Philip play in the next room with the metranome clicking back and forth, measuring the beat for the melody that came poring in the kitchen while i wrestled with brackets and signs while Edna did the dishes or rolled cigarettes. Philip always had an exuberance that came from him. A kind of joy that leaked out in every pore he had. A confidence that was often based upon experience and his love of the many subjects he studied over a life time.
Although very young at the time, he influenced me in a very postive manner. I have to say at this poiint give my heart felt thanks to Murray and Paul for all their guidance and sharing they did with me in the many activities they were responsible for me sharing. I would not be the person i am today without meeting the Cotton family and the great contribution they have made toward my life at such a young age.
Sincere thanks for all your gifts; and here's to celebrating the life and memories of one of the very best! Cheers to Philip and may the wind always be at your back...
