Life Story for Mrs. Aniela Trusz (Szul)

Mrs. Aniela Trusz (Szul)
Aniela Trusz
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Aniela Trusz announce her peaceful passing on April 25, 2018 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side. Born in Lubaczow, Poland on March 1, 1933, Aniela married Mykola Trusz on May 10, 1953. Aniela endured two emigrations in her lifetime - firstly as a child, being displaced from her home with her family after World War II to northern Poland. Then in 1988, she emigrated with her husband to Canada to join her children, Father Ivan and Marika who had previously emigrated.
Aniela was a stay-at-home mother that was cheerfully dedicated to ensuring that her family was well taken care of. She enjoyed the simple things in life, always guided by firm principles and a steadfast trust in God and her Ukrainian Catholic faith. Aniela was never still, always cooking, baking, knitting or quietly praying in her down time. She was recognizable by her glowing smile, sharp wit and wisdom, and her infectious laugh.
She took great pride in passing on her Ukrainian/ Polish traditions to her grandchildren. In her latter years, while living at the Holy Protection Millennium Home, Aniela enjoyed daily visits from her neighbours with whom she always shared her delicious baking and cooking. In Canada, Aniela was a dedicated member of the Church of the Holy Protection, and most recently, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross parish and their respective Women's Leagues.
Aniela will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three children, Father Ivan (Toronto); Miron (Banie Mazurskie, Poland) and his wife Krystyna, and grandchildren Anna and Peter; Marika and Walter Warywoda, and grandchildren Andrea and Larissa. Aniela was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Dmitri Szul, her brother Alexander, and her husband Mykola, shortly after their arrival in Canada.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 with family and friends gathering in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross, Victoria Avenue, for Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am, celebrated by Fr. Stepan Didur. Interment beside her husband in the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, West Arthur Street. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Church, with Panachyda (Prayers) offered at 7:00 pm. EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverely Street at Algoma in care of arrangements.
Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chaban Ukrainian Dance Group, 211 Robertson Street, Thunder Bay, ON P7C 2N7.
