Obituary for Mrs. Grazia D'ANGELO (DiGiacinto)

Mrs. Grazia (Di Giacinto) D’Angelo, age 88 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8th, 2007 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Grazia was born in Bisenti, Teramo, Italy on February 24, 1919. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her four children by her side, joining her husband, Antonio, who had found a home for his family. Since then she has been a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay.

Antonio, who predeceased her in November 1996, was truly the love of her life. Their eyes and smiles twinkled when they looked at each other, and she spent her life taking care of him, their children, and their extended family. Their house was always open and welcome, something to eat and drink was always offered, and everyone left feeling a part of the family with a smile on their face. Grazia enjoyed gardening and took on challenges with a positive attitude. She lived strong in faith, and was a member of St. Anthony’s CWL.

Grazia will be sadly missed by her 3 sons: Corradino (Mary), Pasquale (Lucia) and Giulio (Lucia); daughter Maria (Pietro) Muraca; 11 grandchildren: Carmelina (Michael) Del Nin, Tony (Kim) D’Angelo, Grace (Pat) Marsico, Annette (Rob) Logan, Robert (Cheryl) D’Angelo, Lauri (Ralph) Pugliese, Linda (Bill) McDonald, Lisa (Dave) Maltese, Dina (Dean) Mostow, Enzo (Dawn) D’Angelo, and Marco D’Angelo; and 12 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Kelsi, Eric, Olivia, Kristen, Gabriel, Nicholas, Jillian, Corey, Robert, Taylor, and William. She is also survived by her sister Vincenza D’Alesio in Italy; sister-in-law Vincenza Di Giacinto in Thunder Bay; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grazia was predeceased by Antonio, her loving husband of over 50 years; loving parents Donato and Marianunzia Di Giacinto; father and mother-in-law Achille and Ettera D’Angelo; brothers Antonio and Francesco Di Giacinto; and brother-in-law Felice D’Alesio.

The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Scali, Dr. Abdel-Malak, Dr. Nigro, Comcare Health Services, especially Bev Rogala - Home Support Worker, Jennifer Seamon - RN, the other RPN’s, and the staff at the TBRHSC for all their great care and compassion.
