Obituary for Mr. Earl Albert Hickin

Mr. Earl Albert  Hickin
Mr. Earl Hickin, age 72 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Hogarth Riverview Manor with his loving family by his side.

Earl was born on February 28, 1946 in Port Arthur. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Hillcrest High School. Earl met and married Uta Mueller on November 18, 1967 and this year they would have celebrated 51 years of marriage. They began their family in Thunder Bay, moving to Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1974 where Earl worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Oil Sands. Earl and his family returned and settled in the Lakehead in 1986.

Earl was first and foremost a family man. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. Being a Papa was so important to him and each of the grandchildren had a special place in his heart. Earl was an animal lover, second only to his family were his dogs. As a young family they liked to take camping trips in their camper and motorhome. His yard was meticulously groomed and he took great satisfaction in his efforts. His hobbies included; curling, hunting and later on woodworking. He made beautifully crafted wooden children's toys.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Uta; children, Sherry (Ed Luski), James (Dani-Rae) and Stacie (Darrell) Boyer; grandchildren E.J., Courtney, Kameron, Dallas, Alexandra, Syndi and Ethan; sisters, Norma Jean (Jimmy) and Dianne (Gerry) and his faithful dogs Chou-Chou and Heidi.

He was predeceased by parents Albert and Irene Hickin, in-laws Gertrude and Henry Mueller, nieces Samantha and Donna Gailbraith and Shannon Miller and nephew Kyle Mueller.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Earl Hickin will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 24, 2018 in the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Pastor Brian Falkenholt of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Private interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00pm until 5:00pm in the Everest Chapel.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
