BRUNO TUCCI
September 16, 1920 – June 14, 2018

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and Nonno, Bruno Tucci, at the age of 97. Bruno passed away Thursday June 14th, 2018, peacefully at home with his family by his side. Bruno was born on September 16, 1920 in Spadola, Catanzaro, Italy. In his early life, Bruno served in WWII and subsequently worked as a tradesman in Italy and Germany. In 1950 Bruno married his loving wife Giuseppa.

To build a better life for his family, Bruno immigrated to Canada in 1965 and was later reunited with his wife and 5 children when they immigrated to Canada in 1970. In Canada, Bruno worked at Ontario Paper in Manitouwadge, and then settled in Thunder Bay working at Busset Construction. In 1970 he then went to work at Northern Wood Preservers until his retirement in 1985. Bruno was a long-time member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur, celebrating 28 years of membership. He had a passion for gardening and sharing his harvest with family, friends and neighbours. He also enjoyed making tomato sauce, sausages, bread and wine with his family and playing cards with his friends.

Bruno loved life and his greatest joy was being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 67 years Giuseppa; children Biagio (Assunta) Tucci, Nicola (Teresa) Tucci, Elizabeth (Joseph) Calabrese, Rosa Maselj, and Connie (Ernest) Richard; grandchildren Josie, Christina, Lia, Lisa, Samantha, Joshua, Michael, Victoria and Matthew; sister Francesca Valente; sisters-in-law Maria Tucci, Rosa Garcea, Teresa Tassone; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bruno was predeceased by his son Antonio; parents Biagio and Rosa Tucci; step-mother Annunziata Tucci; brother/sisters Nicola Tucci, Maria Rosa Mangiardi, Santa Tassone; son-in-law John Maselj; mother/father-in-law Antonio and Maria-Teresa Tassone; brothers/sisters-in-law Domenico Tassone, Bruno Valente, Domenico Garcea, Bruno and Teresa Rosi, Antonio Tassone and nephew Cosimo Garcea.

Funeral services for the late Bruno Tucci will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL (299 Waverley St. at Algoma) at 9:45 a.m. to St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church (292 Red River Rd.) for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Father Antoni Fujarczuk. Entombment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Everest Chapel, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:30 p.m.
