Obituary for Mr. Harold Osborne Sinfield

Mr. Harold Osborne Sinfield
HAROLD SINFIELD

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Harold Osborne (Chucker) Sinfield, age 86 years, in Hogarth Riverview Manor on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 with his family by his side.

Harold was born in Fort William, Ontario on March 3, 1932. In his younger years, he excelled at baseball. Harold played for numerous teams including the Port Arthur Giants. He was named the league MVP in 1954. Harold also spent many years refereeing minor hockey, including 18 years with the Elks program, where he won the Merit Award in 1971. He worked in the Grain Industry, retiring from Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, as Superintendent, in 1992.

One of Harold's greatest joys was spending time at the family camp at Cloud Lake. In his retirement years, he and Virginia spent many happy winters vacationing in Florida together. He also looked forward to golf and having coffee with his “gang.”

Harold's greatest passion, however, was watching his grandchildren grow up and he was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. He never missed a bowling tournament, soccer game, piano recital, hockey game, skating competition or graduation. Harold was also looking forward to being a great-grandfather with the upcoming birth of his first great-granddaughter.

Harold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia; children Janice (Brian) Amadeo and Donna (Greg) Leonzio; grandchildren Jordan (Jess) Amadeo and Katie Amadeo; sisters-in-law Brenda Watson, Shirley Withenshaw (Jack) and brother-in-law Arthur Twardowsky as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He also had a special place in his heart for his furry friends Sophie, Issy, Jackson, Kato and Finn and there was always a cookie or two in his pocket for them.

He was predeceased by a son in infancy; his parents Agnes and Harry Sinfield; in-laws Mary and Arthur Twardowsky; brother William (Marge) Sinfield and sister-in-law Cindy Twardowsky.

The family would like to thank the staff of 3 South – Daisy and Dr. Feldstein at Hogarth Riverview Manor for the exceptional care that they provided during Harold's time there.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Harold Sinfield will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00am in St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1400 Edward Street South. Private interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
